History

Gradiente originated from the management team’s and eminent institutional investors’ initiative in order to support economic development through medium to long-term investments.

During its first years Gradiente stood out at a national level by combining its own analytical approach, attention to detail, and depth of analysis. This entrepreneurial attitude led it to be very active in the various business development stages of its portfolio companies.

Gradiente boasts a team of Italian professionals who have gained experience abroad, are independent and free to operate while respecting precise standards, able to combine financial skills with entrepreneurship, the wisdom of their shareholders, and market liveliness.

  • 2020

    Fourth investment for Gradiente II Fund

    Gradiente II completes the investment in Arcansas S.r.l., a company specializing in the production of profiles for coatings, hygienic connections, floors and hardware/D.I.Y.

  • Investment in surface treatments creating Argos Surface Technologies Group

    Gradiente II acquires a controlling stake of Argos S.p.A. and Aalberts Surface Treatment Italy S.r.l. and signs a binding purchase agreement of Impreglon Italia S.r.l. thus establishing Argos Surface Technologies Group with the intention to become one of the key players in the Italian surface treatment market

  • 2019

    Gradiente I sells share capital in Dierregroup to NB AURORA S.A. SICAF-RAIF

    Gradiente I sells the 46.1% stake, equal to the entire share capital held in Dierre Group. Dierre Group is an Italian leading company in the design, manufacture and sale of protections and components for industrial automation

  • Gradiente I sells controlling stake of Cadicagroup to H.I.G. Capital

    Cadicagroup is a company specializing in labels, tags and packaging accessories for the main clothing brands in premium and absolute luxury segments

  • Gradiente II sells the majority of Coldline to Nice Group S.p.A.

    Gradiente II sells the majority shareholding in Coldline to Nice Group and its subsidiary TheNiceKitchen. Coldline has a long and well-established leadership in the production of professional refrigerators

  • Final closing for Gradiente II

    Final closing for Gradiente II Fund at the hard cap of € 135 million, with commitments from a diverse group of Italian, European and U.S. Investors, surpassing its target of € 120 million

    Second and third closing of Gradiente II and first investments

    Second and third closing of Gradiente II and first investments in HPF S.r.l., a company active in the production of special forgings for the medical, power generation, aerospace and automotive markets, and Cold Line S.r.l., a company active in the production of professional refrigerating equipment for the foodservice and domestic markets.

    Divestments and first closing of Gradiente II

    3 divestments through the sale of portfolio companies Tapì S.p.A., TR Alucap S.r.l. and Vetroelite S.p.A.

    First closing of the second flagship fund Gradiente II.

    Last investment for Gradiente I

    Investment in Dierre S.p.A., a company that manufactures protective devices, aluminum piping, linear runners and conveyor belts. With Dierre, Gradiente achieved 8 investments through Gradiente I.

    First investment of Invest in Modena and other investments

    First investment for Invest in Modena in META S.p.A., a company specializing in precision mechanics manufacturing.

    Investments of Gradiente I in Lanificio dell’Olivo S.p.A., a company specializing in exclusive yarns for the knitwear market and in Buona Compagnia Gourmet S.r.l., a company which produces potato gnocchi (or dumplings) and fresh sauces.

  • 2014

    Launch of Invest in Modena and other investments

    Launch of a fund focused on the entire area of Modena with specific attention to the companies affected by the 2012 earthquake.

    Acquisition of the Mexican group Tapones, a company specializing in the production and marketing of stoppers made of synthetic and natural materials, through the portfolio company Tapì S.p.A.

    Investment of Gradiente I in TR Alucap S.r.l., a company specializing in the production of aluminum lids for the food market.

    Gradiente continues to invest

    Investments of Gradiente I in Cadicagroup S.p.A., a company specializing in the design and marketing of labels for the apparel market and in Vetroelite S.p.A., acompany which designs and markets special glass.

    Acquisition of Microcell S.r.l., a company which produces and markets synthetic corks for the wine market through the portfolio company Tapì S.p.A.

  • 2012

    Final closing of Gradiente I and first investments

    Final closing of the Gradiente I fund with committed capital of 76 million euros.

    Investment of Gradiente I in Spiller S.p.A., a company which manages a chain of restaurants and bars and in Tapì S.p.A., a company which produces synthetic stoppers for the spirits, food, and cosmetics market.

    Bank of Italy authorization

    Bank of Italy authorization allowing Gradiente to promote and manage closed end funds dedicated to institutional investors and approval of the Gradiente I regulation, the first fund sponsored and managed by Gradiente SGR.

    Gradiente SGR was incorporated on November 6, 2009.
